It comes up over and over. If it's so hard to live in San Francisco, why are you here?

It's always some combination of three things:

1. The work is better (money, career, etc.)
2. People: my friends and family are here
3. The outdoors: weather, natural beauty, climbing

Not food, not culture, not gay rights/activism. Those things are an important part of the area's history but the new people don't seem to care as much.
